Freebook One is the social platform built on the principle that your voice belongs to you. Today it sits at the center of an ecosystem for creators, brands, and communities who want their voice, their audience, and their platform to belong to them.

After watching the platforms above us decide what speech could exist online, we built our own infrastructure. Known now as the Freebook Cloud.

In January 2021, Megalo Social was one of the fastest-growing social apps in the world. Within days, Facebook and Amazon decided who could host us. Just like parler we were shut down, and the service went dark almost overnight. We learned the lesson the hard way: if a community depends entirely on someone else's rails, access can be revoked.

The day the platform disappeared.

The lesson was structural, not just political. So we got to work owning every layer of the stack.

The ascent

Megalo Social surged to the top of the app charts as millions joined and daily momentum accelerated.

The erasure

Within days, app distribution and cloud hosting were cut off, and the service went dark for users.

The realization

A social app alone was not enough. The next version needed stronger product, commerce, payment, and infrastructure layers around it.

Distribution was not enough

So we changed our name to Freebook One. We had audience momentum, but the app still depended on outside app stores and cloud hosting to stay reachable. So we decided to start building more than one platform to maintain 100% independence.

The next chapter is about connecting social, content, commerce, payments, and private infrastructure so communities can build on stronger ground.

The stack matters because every layer reduces a different dependency: audience, media, commerce, payments, and infrastructure.
